Man arrested on child endangerment charges in Easton

EASTON, PA — A 45-year-old Pennsylvania man has been arrested on charges of child endangerment and assault following an incident in March.

Matthew Tanner Messa was taken into custody by Phillipsburg, New Jersey, police and is awaiting extradition.

Forks Township Police Department received a report of possible child abuse at approximately 7:45 p.m. on March 9 in the 4400 block of Richmond Road.

The complainant reported that Messa, the child’s father, had forcefully pulled the child’s arm and stated he was “going to rip it out of its socket.”

The child was transported to a hospital and diagnosed with a sprained elbow, which was treated with a splint.

The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office approved charges against Messa.

An arrest warrant was issued April 10 for one count of endangering welfare of children, one count of simple assault and one count of harassment – subject other to physical contact.
