NEW HARTFORD, NY — Police have arrested two individuals following investigations into separate retail larceny incidents at the Kohl’s Department Store on Clinton Street.
The New Hartford Police Department investigated a reported larceny on Dec. 11 that occurred on Dec. 10.
The investigation determined that Cayla Tennant, 34, and her brother, Charles Tennant, 33, both of Rome, entered the store together, selected merchandise, and concealed items before exiting without making any attempt to pay.
The total value of the stolen merchandise was approximately $360.
Through investigation, both individuals were positively identified.
During the course of the investigation, it was further determined that Cayla Tennant was also responsible for a separate larceny at the same location on March 13, 2026.
In that incident, approximately seven items of merchandise, valued at $240, were taken without payment.
Both individuals were subsequently located and arrested in connection with these incidents and processed at the New Hartford Police Department.
Cayla Tennant was charged with two counts of petit larceny.
Charles Tennant was charged with one count of petit larceny.
Both were released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of New Hartford Criminal Court at a later date.
