ABSECON, NJ — A man was arrested after police responded to a report of attempted vehicle break-ins captured on home surveillance footage.
Patrol officers were called just after 7 a.m. on April 12 to a residence where a Ring camera had recorded a male attempting to gain entry into a vehicle.
Officers reviewed the footage, which showed the male walking onto the property and pulling on a car door handle.
A short time later, officers located the individual in the area.
The subject was identified as William Bauer Jr., 26, of Absecon.
He was detained and found to be in possession of numerous miscellaneous items.
Following further investigation, Bauer was placed under arrest.
A search incident to arrest uncovered drug paraphernalia, weapons, burglary tools and a significant amount of personal property believed to have been taken from multiple vehicles.
He was charged with criminal attempt – burglary, criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglar tools, unlawful possession of a weapon and certain persons not to possess a weapon.
Through further investigation, officers discovered additional vehicle burglaries connected to Bauer.
He was subsequently charged with numerous burglary and theft-related offenses.
The charges were placed on a warrant, and he was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
