SEYMOUR, CT — A former president of the Seymour Police Union has been arrested on a first-degree larceny charge, according to a statement released by the union.

Justin Quilty was arrested following an investigation into discrepancies involving union funds.

The union said its members are the victims in the case and are “deeply disappointed” in Quilty’s actions.

Union officials notified Seymour Police Department administration immediately upon discovering the discrepancies, according to the statement.

The notification allowed for an independent investigation to be initiated.

The union has since implemented safeguards to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Union President David Parratt said the allegations do not reflect the integrity of the Seymour Police Department’s officers.

The union said it will continue to cooperate with the judicial system as the case proceeds.
