WEBSTER, MA — A 10-year-old girl died after being struck by a vehicle on April 11.
The South Worcester County Communication Center received a 911 call at 12:49 p.m. reporting a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.
Webster Police Officers, Webster Fire Department and Webster EMS responded to the scene.
A passerby with an automatic external defibrillator had initiated CPR prior to first responders’ arrival.
The child, Marleigh Guevara, was unresponsive when first responders arrived and took over care.
Webster EMS transported Guevara to UMASS Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The vehicle was driven by Sherry Mae Plitouke, 35, of Southbridge.
The crash is being investigated by the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Unit, the Webster Police Department and the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
Counselors are at Park Avenue School, where Guevara was a student, to assist students and staff.
The family is holding a candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. at 535 School Street.
Vehicles are encouraged to park at the VNA lot on School Street.
