TOWNSHEND, VT — A 78-year-old man reported missing after going for a walk in the woods was found safe early Sunday morning.
Bruce Bills of Townshend was located shortly before 2 a.m. and reunited with family members, according to Vermont State Police.
Police began investigating the missing person case at 10:16 p.m. Saturday after family members discovered a note Bills had left indicating he had gone for a walk in the woods around 4 p.m.
When Bills had not returned home by 10 p.m., family members contacted authorities.
State Police, family members and local search and rescue teams searched the area surrounding Bills’ residence on Jay Road.
Bills was described as an avid hiker in good shape, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and 175 pounds with short white hair and blue eyes.
