RUSHVILLE, NY — A 59-year-old man was arrested on drunken driving charges Thursday evening following a traffic stop on State Route 247.
William R. Lanphear, of Middlesex, was stopped at approximately 5:41 p.m. for a vehicle and traffic violation, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
During the stop, Lanphear displayed signs of intoxication, deputies said.
He was administered a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and was subsequently transported to the Yates County Jail, where he submitted to a chemical test.
Lanphear was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, an E felony, driving while intoxicated, driving with .08 of 1% or more of alcohol, operating an uninspected motor vehicle and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
He was held pending arraignment at the next session of Yates County CAP Court.
Lanphear will answer to the charges at a later date in the Town of Potter Court.
