Woman arrested on drug trafficking charge in Portland

PORTLAND, ME — Portland police arrested a woman on drug trafficking charges following a traffic stop April 10.

Officers conducted the traffic stop at approximately 9:49 a.m. in the area of 1325 Forest Avenue.

During the stop, an officer observed suspected illegal drugs in plain view inside an open purse.

The driver then attempted to conceal a plastic bag containing the suspected substances.

A subsequent search of the purse resulted in the discovery of a handgun.

The driver was identified as Jill Maynard, 38, of Windham.

Maynard was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

She has been charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, a Class A felony.

Officers seized approximately 39.5 grams gross weight of a substance believed to be a combination of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
