Driver flees crash scene in Elder Township

ELDER TOWNSHIP, PA — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred April 7, 2026.

The Hastings Borough Police Department was called to assist Pennsylvania State Police with a motor vehicle accident at approximately 4:32 p.m.

The crash was initially reported along Beech Road in East Carroll Township.

Police said the driver had fled the scene and was combative with fire and emergency medical services personnel.

Upon arrival, officers found the driver had been subdued and was receiving medical treatment from EMS personnel.

Further investigation determined the accident occurred within Elder Township, and Hastings Borough Police assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Two witnesses were interviewed and reported observing the crash.

Both witnesses indicated the driver was operating the vehicle in a careless manner and traveled through a field prior to the crash.

One witness stated the driver forced them off the roadway, nearly causing a collision.

The Patton Fire Company No. 1 and Hastings Area Ambulance assisted at the scene.
