Mt. Morris man arrested on felony criminal mischief charge in Mt. Morris

MT. MORRIS, NY — A Mt. Morris man faces felony charges after allegedly damaging a vehicle during a domestic incident last month.

Matthew Bird, 40, of Mt. Morris, was arrested April 7 and charged with felony Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence on River Road in the Town of Mt. Morris at approximately 6:45 p.m. March 29 for a reported domestic incident.

Deputies met with a female individual who said she had been involved in a domestic incident with a male who had left the scene before deputies arrived.

The investigation determined that Bird had intentionally caused substantial damage to a vehicle owned by the female victim during the domestic incident.

Deputy Danielle Fensken arrested Bird and transported him to the Livingston County Jail for arrest processing and pre-arraignment detention.

Bird was arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part at the Livingston County Jail before Town of Springwater Justice Johnson.

The judge released Bird on his own recognizance as the charges do not qualify for bail under the NYS Bail Reform Act.

The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office represented Bird at the arraignment.

The Livingston County District Attorney’s Office represented the People.

The New York State Police assisted with the investigation.
