Two arrested on DUI charges in separate incidents

WEST WARWICK, RI — State Police arrested a Massachusetts man on drunken driving charges following a traffic stop on Route 95.

Brandon White, 29, of Newton, Massachusetts, was taken into custody at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday.

He was charged with driving under the influence of liquor and/or drugs, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense.

White was transported to the State Police Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

He was released with a notice to appear in Third District Court.

In a separate incident, state police arrested a Warwick man following a wrong-way collision on Route 95 South in West Greenwich early Wednesday.

James Gowdy, 49, of Warwick, was arrested at 12:40 a.m.

He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor, first offense, refusal to submit to a chemical test, first offense, and reckless driving, first offense.

Gowdy was transported to the State Police Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

He was released with a notice to appear in Third District Court.
