Man arrested on drug-impaired driving charge in Masonville

MASONVILLE, NY — A Deposit man faces multiple charges following a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon.

Joseph Worzel, 33, of Deposit, was arrested after his vehicle left State Highway 8 and struck a tree, according to Delaware County Sheriff Craig S. DuMond.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash with injuries Saturday afternoon and identified Worzel as the operator.

Worzel was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, as well as moved from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable or prudent and obstructed plate, all violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.

He was also charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Worzel was released on appearance tickets and traffic summonses and was directed to appear in Masonville Town Court at a later date.
