WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, PA — A motorcyclist died following a single-vehicle crash on Highland Park Boulevard on Sunday evening.
The crash occurred at 6:04 p.m. on Highland Park Boulevard between Mundy Street and the Interstate 81 ramp.
The motorcyclist was transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
Luzerne County Coroner Dion Fernandes confirmed the death.
Highland Park Boulevard was closed between 6:04 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
A family member of the motorcyclist arrived at the scene before police.
Initial witness reports suggest excessive speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
No other vehicles or persons were involved in the accident.
The Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department is investigating the crash.
