BOSTON, MA — A man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested with a loaded firearm Monday night in the Mattapan neighborhood.
Officers assigned to District B-3 with assistance from the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Maleeak Effee, 20, of Boston, for firearm charges and outstanding warrants.
At approximately 9:57 p.m., officers were traveling in the area of Marcella Park when they observed a group loitering outside 80 Marcella Street.
The group noticed police and entered a market to avoid interaction.
When the suspect reached the sidewalk, he began running while reaching into his waistband area.
Effee was apprehended in the area of 226 Highland Street, and a firearm was recovered near where he was handcuffed.
The recovered firearm was determined to be a Glock 33 with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.
The firearm had a defaced serial number.
Effee is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and defacement of a firearm serial number.
He had three active warrants for his arrest including firearm offenses, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and possession of ammunition.
