MIDDLETOWN, CT — A 19-year-old former Wesleyan University student surrendered to police on April 6, 2026, facing 31 counts of voyeurism.
Samuel Schumann, also known as Samuel “VuVu,” of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested following a two-month search by detectives.
An arrest warrant was obtained on Feb. 6, 2026, charging Schumann with violations of Connecticut General Statutes.
The charges stem from multiple incidents that occurred between September and October 2025 within dormitories on the Wesleyan University campus, where Schumann was a student at the time.
Detectives assigned to the Middletown Police Special Investigations Unit conducted an extensive investigation, identifying 19 female victims, most of whom were students, who were secretly recorded in campus bathrooms.
University officials contacted police and fully cooperated with the investigation once they became aware of the incidents.
Schumann was processed and released after posting a $100,000 surety bond.
He is scheduled to appear in court on April 7, 2026, at 9 a.m.
Investigators believe there may be additional unidentified victims.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim, or who has information related to this case, is urged to contact the Middletown Police Investigative Services Division at (860) 638-4140 or Detective Cody Harlow at (860) 638-4134.
