CHAMBERSBURG, PA — A Pennsylvania man was arrested after police found him inside a residence where he was not authorized to be.
Matthew Thomas Ruppenthal, 37, of Pennsylvania, was charged with one count of criminal trespass, a felony of the second degree.
Chambersburg Police Department officers were dispatched to 455 Lincoln Way East on April 5, 2026, for a report of an unwanted person inside the residence.
Officers arrived and located Ruppenthal inside the apartment.
Ruppenthal did not have permission to be inside the residence, and all occupants stated they were unsure of how he had gotten in.
Upon further investigation, officers found an unsecured door that led to a second-floor balcony.
Officers also discovered a window air conditioning unit that had been pushed through a window.
Ruppenthal was booked into the Franklin County Jail to await his preliminary arraignment.
