Man arrested on burglary charge in Stroud Township

STROUD TOWNSHIP, PA — A Pennsylvania man was arrested April 3 on charges including burglary and criminal trespass at a Stroud Township building.

Brian Daniel Churchill, 49, of Pennsylvania, was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police Stroudsburg at 7:35 p.m. on a warrant issued by the Stroud Area Regional Police Department.

Police were dispatched to Pocono Midwives at 1519 North 9th Street on April 1 at 11:59 a.m. for a burglary investigation.

The building owner discovered coverings on the doors and evidence that someone had been inside the structure.

Officers found the back door unsecured and observed clothing, tools, food and drink containers, a computer, and totes containing cut copper piping inside.

A folder containing paperwork with Churchill’s name and date of birth was located at the scene.

Police reported extensive damage in the basement from removed piping and wiring.

During a property check conducted at 12:30 a.m. on April 2, officers found an unsecured door and a cellphone on a charger.

An officer called the last known phone number for Churchill and the phone at the scene rang.

Churchill was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and possessing instruments of crime.

He was transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
