Man arrested on vehicle trespassing charge in Bath

BATH, NY — A 25-year-old man was arrested after being found asleep inside an unlocked vehicle parked in a resident’s backyard.

Members of the Village of Bath Police Department were dispatched to a residence on West William Street at approximately 10:17 a.m. on April 4, 2026, for a report of a male found sleeping in the complainant’s vehicle.

Upon arrival, patrols located Richard O. Snyder, of Bath, asleep inside the victim’s vehicle.

The vehicle was parked in the victim’s backyard and had been unlocked.

Snyder had entered the unlocked vehicle, locked himself inside, and went to sleep.

Snyder was arrested and transported to the Bath Police Department for processing.

He is charged with one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor.

Snyder was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment.
