BOSTON, MA — Two suspects were arrested Friday evening after allegedly stealing merchandise from two Alo stores in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.
Officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) were notified about 6:40 p.m. on April 3, 2026, of two shoplifters inside the Alo store at the Prudential Mall on Boylston Street.
Two suspects were observed concealing multiple items into a bag before exiting the store.
The suspects left the area while responding officers were assisting with another shoplifting incident.
Shortly after, officers were notified that the same two suspects were stealing items at the Alo store located at 151 Newbury Street.
The male suspect was seen exiting the store while the female suspect remained inside.
Officers stopped the male suspect at 279 Dartmouth Street and advised him they were conducting a shoplifting investigation.
Police placed the suspect in handcuffs and recovered stolen merchandise.
A key fob was recovered from the suspect, and officers located the vehicle on Dartmouth Street.
After further investigation, officers recovered additional stolen merchandise from inside the vehicle.
The female suspect was stopped as she exited the store and also placed in handcuffs.
She provided officers with multiple names and refused to reveal her true identity.
Officers determined the suspect’s identity during the booking process.
A total of $1,726 in stolen merchandise was recovered and returned.
Floyd Summerville, 55, of Bronx, New York, was charged with larceny over $1,200 and conspiracy.
Tiphaine Jones, 45, was charged with larceny over $1,200, conspiracy, receiving stolen property over $1,200, and furnishing false identification information to law enforcement.
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
