HOMER, NY — A Cortland woman was arrested on a criminal impersonation charge after allegedly providing a false name to police during a larceny investigation.

Lynn C. Hafl, 37, was taken into custody at 36 South West St. on March 30, 2026, at approximately 7:10 p.m. by officers with the Village of Homer Police Department.

The arrest stemmed from a follow-up investigation into a larceny that occurred at the Byrne Dairy the previous day.

Police said Hafl provided the name and date of birth of another person to an officer in an effort to avoid arrest on an active bench warrant out of the City of Cortland.

After being warned of the consequences, Hafl continued to provide the officer with the name of another person, according to police.

Hafl was taken into custody without incident and transported to the police department where she was processed.

She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Homer Court on April 21, 2026, at 5 p.m.

Hafl was turned over to an officer with the Cortland Police Department, who arrested her on the bench warrant.

She was released on April 3, 2026.

Hafl was charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor.
