Hancock man arrested on contempt charge in Delhi

DELHI, NY — A Hancock man faces a criminal contempt charge after allegedly contacting a protected individual while incarcerated at the Delaware County Correctional Facility.

Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the arrest of James Procak, 38, on March 24.

Deputies received a report on March 23 that Procak had been making contact via text message conversations and video calls with a protected individual in violation of a duly served order of protection.

Deputies arrested and charged Procak with one count of criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor of the New York State Penal Law, on March 24.

Procak was already being held at the correctional facility on previous charges while awaiting arraignment on the new charge.

Upon completion of the arraignment on the new charge, Procak was remanded back to the Delaware County Correctional Facility with no bail.
