Passenger arrested on drug charge in Ashford

ASHFORD, NY — A passenger was arrested on a felony drug charge following a traffic stop on Route 219.

Dana W. Hall, 36, of Ellicottville, was arrested at 1:42 p.m. April 1 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in which Hall was a passenger.

After interviewing the driver and passenger, deputies developed reasonable suspicion and requested assistance from K9 Echo.

The dog conducted an open-air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle and displayed several indications of the odor of a narcotic drug, indicating to the passenger side door.

Deputies conducted a vehicle search and located approximately 2.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 5 grams of suspected cocaine.

Hall was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing.

He was arraigned in Ellicottville Town Court and released under supervision.

Hall is due in Ashford Town Court at a later date.
