HAVERSTRAW, NY — A Spring Valley man was arrested on weapons charges following a traffic stop on Route 9W.
Haverstraw Police Department personnel conducted the traffic stop in the area of Route 9W and Westside Avenue at approximately 4:29 p.m. Tuesday.
During the investigation, officers determined that one of the vehicle’s occupants was illegally in possession of a loaded firearm.
The individual was identified as Treyvon Montgomery, 18, of Spring Valley.
He was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Haverstraw Police Headquarters for arrest processing.
Further investigation revealed that the firearm had been reported stolen in 2025 from another state.
Montgomery has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree (loaded firearm), criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree (large capacity ammunition feeding device), criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal possession of stolen property in the 4th degree.
The defendant was arraigned in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, $60,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond.
The Haverstraw Police Department was assisted by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
