CORTLAND, NY — A 40-year-old woman was arrested after two young children were found unsupervised in and near a roadway.
Ashley L. Bowman, of Cortland, was taken into custody at 1:30 p.m. March 30 and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office.
Officers conducted a welfare check at approximately 12:40 p.m. after receiving a report of two young children in and near a roadway in the city.
Officers determined the children were inadequately supervised at their home, according to the sheriff’s office.
Bowman was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing.
She was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process at 8 p.m. March 30.
Bowman was released on her own recognizance.
Her next court appearance will be scheduled in City of Cortland Court at a later date.
