ROSLINDALE, MA — Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force recovered a firearm during an investigation Tuesday.
Officers were conducting a firearm investigation in the area of 435 Hyde Park Avenue at about 12:15 p.m.
Officers observed a motor vehicle with two known occupants believed to be in possession of a firearm.
The vehicle was seen operating on Neponset Street towards Hyde Park Avenue.
Officers followed the vehicle as it pulled into a parking lot.
Officers approached the vehicle and were advised by the operator that she did not have a driver’s license.
Police requested identifying information from the other two occupants.
The rear passenger showed officers a picture of his license on his phone but continued to have his arm pinned to his waistband.
Officers conducted a pat frisk of the occupants and recovered a firearm from the waistband of the rear passenger.
The firearm was determined to be a Glock 29 with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine.
A switch was attached to the rear slide which makes the firearm fully automatic.
Andre Vega, 19, of Dorchester, was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
Vega faces charges of possession of a machine gun, possession of a loaded machine gun, carry a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
