TRENTON, NJ — A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian last month.
Matthew Eliu Ochoa was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and endangering an injured victim.
Trenton Police patrol units responded to the intersection of Greenwood Avenue and Hudson Street at approximately 12:48 a.m. on March 27 on a report of a pedestrian struck.
Police located Michael Manoil, 52, of Trenton, in the roadway with signs of serious trauma.
Manoil was transported to Capital Health Hospital in Trenton, where he later died from his injuries.
Detectives from the Trenton Police Fatal Crash Unit and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Serious Crash Response Team responded to the scene.
During the investigation, detectives established a suspect vehicle and interviewed several witnesses who observed the incident.
Ochoa was arrested without incident and is pending a first appearance in superior court.
He faces two third-degree crimes and one second-degree crime.
