Man arrested on stalking, contempt charges in Rossie

ROSSIE, NY — New York State Police arrested a 33-year-old man on charges of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree and Stalking in the 4th Degree on March 30, 2026.

Matthew R. Lynde, of Gouverneur, was taken into custody following an investigation into an order of protection violation.

Troopers responded to Ferguson Road in the town of Rossie at approximately 9:19 a.m. on March 22, 2026, for a reported order of protection violation.

An investigation determined that Lynde violated a stay-away order of protection by attempting to obtain personal information from the protected party and attempting to observe what the protected party is getting in the mail.

Following consultation with the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, Lynde was arrested and processed at SP Gouverneur.

He was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail or $8,000 bond.
