Motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle crash in Raymond

RAYMOND, ME — A Greenwood motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash Monday evening.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Raymond Fire/Rescue Department responded to the area of Webb’s Mills Road and Tarkiln Hill Road at approximately 7:27 p.m. March 30.

Seth Hodgkins, 20, of Greenwood, was traveling north on Route 85 on a motorcycle when a brown 2012 Toyota RAV4 traveling southbound made a left turn onto Tarkiln Hill Road, according to the initial investigation.

The motorcycle struck the RAV4 in the northbound lane.

Hodgkins was ejected from his motorcycle and was then struck by a 2015 GMC Terrain traveling south behind the RAV4.

The RAV4 was operated by Seth Thayer, 23, of Raymond.

The GMC Terrain was operated by Christopher Akers, 55, of Casco.

Hodgkins was pronounced dead at the scene and was reported to be wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Windham Police Crash Reconstruction Team to determine causation factors.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor at this time.
