CLARENDON, VT — A two-vehicle crash on Creek Road resulted in a DUI arrest on March 30, 2026.
Vermont State Police from the Rutland Barracks were notified of the crash at approximately 6:38 p.m. on Creek Road south of Walker Mountain Road.
Benjamin Bruno, 44, of E Wallingford, was traveling southbound on Creek Road when he failed to avoid a parked 2003 Ford F-350 on the west shoulder of the roadway, according to police.
The parked vehicle was occupied by passenger Heidi Congdon, 38, of Clarendon, and Robert Congdon Sr., 68, who was operating sap collecting equipment in the bed of the truck at the time of the crash.
Bruno’s 2001 Toyota Tacoma became disabled after striking the Ford and veered off the west shoulder of the roadway.
The Toyota was totaled, while the Ford sustained significant damage to the front driver’s fender and bumper.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
During the investigation, troopers observed Bruno displaying several indicators of impairment.
Bruno was screened for DUI and processed at the Vermont State Police Rutland Barracks.
He was released with a citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.
Bruno was also issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for violating 23 VSA 1081 Basic Rule and Maximum Limits.
