GENEVA, NY — Members of the City of Geneva Police Department arrested a local woman Friday morning on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
Evelinda A. Sapp, 62, of Geneva, was taken into custody at approximately 8 a.m. at Courtyard Apartments.
Police allege Sapp recklessly threw a cup of bleach-like material at a child under the age of 5, causing the child to have breathing difficulties.
The child was examined by Finger Lakes Ambulance personnel and released at the scene.
Sapp was processed at the Geneva Police Department and transported to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
She was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in City of Geneva Criminal Court at a later date.
Sapp faces one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
