Man arrested on aggravated assault charge in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a man early Sunday following a physical dispute outside a residence on North Main Street.

Police were notified of the incident at approximately 2:22 a.m. March 29, 2026.

Troopers responded to the scene and identified the involved parties as Jarek Coriell, 44, of Montgomery, and John Cosgrove, 37, of Montgomery.

Investigation revealed that Coriell had committed the crime of aggravated assault.

He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Albans Barracks for processing.

Cosgrove was transported to Northwestern Medical Center for his injuries.

Coriell was later lodged at the Northwest State Correctional Facility on $1,000 bail.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Franklin County Superior Court on March 30, 2026, at 1 p.m.
