Officer struck by vehicle in Haverhill

HAVERHILL, NH — A police officer was injured after being struck by a vehicle during a welfare check on Central Street in Woodsville on March 27, 2026.

Officers from the Haverhill Police Department were dispatched to conduct the welfare check at approximately 6:27 p.m.

During the encounter, the operator of a vehicle fled the scene, striking one of the responding officers with the vehicle before fleeing into Vermont.

The injured officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for medical evaluation and treatment.

The officer has since been released and is expected to make a full recovery.

Through a coordinated investigation involving the Haverhill Police Department, the Vermont State Police and the Lisbon Police Department, the suspect was identified as Christina Garrison, 37, of no fixed address.

Vermont State Troopers with assistance from the Haverhill Police Department located Garrison in Wells River, where she was taken into custody without further incident.

Garrison was arrested as a fugitive from justice on Haverhill criminal charges of second-degree assault and on several active Vermont arrest warrants.

Additional Vermont State Police and Haverhill charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Following her arrest, Garrison was evaluated at a Vermont hospital.

She is expected to be held on $100,000 bail pending a court appearance scheduled for Monday, March 30, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in Orange County Superior Court.
