Driver dies in crash in West Cocalico Township

WEST COCALICO TOWNSHIP, PA — A 67-year-old man died Friday after his vehicle left the roadway, traveled through a field and struck a residence in the 100 block of Mill Road.

The Ephrata Police Department was dispatched to the crash at approximately 4:05 p.m.

Police determined that a GMC Yukon driven by the man was traveling north on Mill Road when it left the roadway for unknown reasons.

The vehicle caught fire after impact but was quickly extinguished by residents and the fire department.

The driver and sole occupant was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.

No one in the residence was harmed.

The crash remains under investigation.

Ephrata Police were assisted by Reinholds Fire Company, Reinholds Community Ambulance, Denver Fire Company and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office.
