DRYDEN, NY — A 17-year-old student has been arrested in connection with a fire at Dryden High School on Jan. 7.
New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Ithaca arrested the juvenile on March 25.
The student was charged with arson in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor.
He was issued a Family Court appearance ticket returnable to the Tompkins County Probation Office.
An investigation determined the juvenile was responsible for starting a fire in a trash bin located inside a school bathroom, resulting in property damage.
Students were safely evacuated during the incident and transported to Tompkins Community College.
No injuries were reported.
The Dryden Fire Department responded to the scene on the date of the incident.
Members of the New York State Police Forensic Identification Unit also responded.
Troopers were assisted by the Village of Dryden Police Department and Dryden School officials.
