Man arrested on warrants in Hermon

HERMON, ME — A man who failed to report to jail for a two-year prison sentence was arrested during a traffic stop.

Donald Searway, 41, of Glenburn, was taken into custody on Billings Road on March 25, 2026, by deputies and detectives from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and the Criminal Investigation Division.

Searway had been found guilty on Sept. 29 and was ordered to report to jail but failed to do so, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Penobscot County Jail filed an affidavit for failure to report, and an arrest warrant was issued.

Detectives and patrol deputies observed Searway in a vehicle on Union Street in Hermon and stopped the vehicle on Billings Road.

Searway was arrested on active warrants and additionally charged with unlawful possession of schedule W drugs (fentanyl).

He was held on a probation violation.

A passenger in the vehicle, Curt Leighton, 47, of Corinth, was charged with unlawful possession of schedule W drugs (fentanyl) and released from the scene.
