Man arrested on rape charges in Clifton Park

CLIFTON PARK, NY — State Police arrested a man on multiple rape and sexual assault charges March 19, 2026.

Frank W. Kovacs, 62, of Laurens, was arrested on a warrant charging him with eight counts of rape in the first degree, a class B felony, three counts of criminal sexual act in the first degree, a class B felony, and three counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, a class D felony.

On Feb. 4, investigators received information pertaining to the rape and sexual assault of a child in Saratoga County which began when the child was reportedly 13.

The investigation determined Kovacs allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped the child, who was under the age of 17, from 2008 until 2011 while in Clifton Park.

Kovacs was arrested at his place of employment in Oneonta and transported to State Police Clifton Park for processing.

He was arraigned at Clifton Park Town Court where he was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash, a $250,000 bond, or a $500,000 partially secured bond.

In June, Kovacs was arrested by State Police Oneonta for rape and sex abuse charges following an Otsego County grand jury indictment.
