Man arrested after vehicle pursuit in Blairsville

BLAIRSVILLE, PA — A man was arrested following a vehicle pursuit that began at approximately 5:19 p.m. on March 24, 2026.

Diymon D’Shawn Womble, 25, of Hagerstown, Maryland, was arrested by the Blairsville Borough Police Department.

Womble, who was known by police to be wanted by Cambria County, was observed by police getting into his vehicle along Veterans Drive.

Police initiated a traffic stop at the Sunoco Station at Villa Road and State Route 22.

As the officer approached Womble’s vehicle, Womble drove off onto State Route 22 eastbound attempting to flee from police.

The pursuit continued eastbound on State Route 22 until the intersection of Jessie Penrose Road.

Womble made a U-turn and began driving westbound on State Route 22.

During this time, he was cutting off other drivers while driving at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit then turned off State Route 22 onto Villa Road and continued onto William Penn Highway heading west.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of East Brown Street and Grandview Avenue when Womble’s vehicle lost control, hitting a utility pole and hedges.

Womble jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot, and a foot pursuit ensued.

Womble was apprehended at a residence along Veterans Drive.

A passenger in the vehicle was detained by police at the scene of the crash and was later released.

Womble was lodged in the Indiana County Jail and is awaiting arraignment on charges of flight to avoid apprehension, fleeing or attempting to elude police, evading arrest or detention on foot, recklessly endangering another person, careless driving, reckless driving, driving vehicle at safe speed, one way roadways and rotary traffic islands, driving on right side of roadway, stop signs and yield signs, traffic control signals, vehicle entering or crossing roadway, drivers required to be licensed, and obedience to traffic control devices.

Blairsville Borough Police were assisted at the scene by the Indiana County Drug Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police, and Derry Borough Police.
