Man arrested on multiple charges in Arlington

ARLINGTON, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a Bennington man on multiple charges after he allegedly waved a gun at another driver on Vermont Route 7A on March 24, 2026.

Malik O. Hardy, 25, of Bennington, was taken into custody at approximately 5:46 p.m. following a be-on-the-lookout broadcast from dispatch.

Police responded to reports of a dark Buick with rust on the hood traveling north on Route 7A and following another vehicle closely.

The driver of the lead vehicle reported that the Buick would not pass when the vehicle stopped and that Hardy was gesturing angrily.

The caller also reported that Hardy was waving a gun out of the window.

Hardy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated stalking with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, grossly negligent operation, criminal threatening and disorderly conduct.

The victim was identified as Tyler J. Bubier, 22, of Bennington.

Hardy was transported to the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks for processing and lodged at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.

He was issued conditions with a citation to appear in Bennington County Superior Court, Criminal Division, on March 25, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
