DEERPARK, NY — A head-on collision on State Route 42 and 97 left one person dead and two others injured March 23.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. when a 2004 Honda traveling northwest crossed into the southeast lane and struck a 2014 Ford head-on.
The driver of the Honda was identified as Patricia A. Desomma, 76, of Warwick.
Patricia Desomma and her front-seat passenger, John J. Desomma, 76, of Warwick, were extricated from the vehicle.
John Desomma received life-saving measures at the scene and was transported to Bon Secours Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Patricia Desomma was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 36-year-old woman from Sparrowbush, was also transported to Garnet Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
