MAMAKATING, NY — A Port Jervis woman died following a single-vehicle crash on State Route 17 westbound on March 23, 2026.
State Police from the Wurtsboro barracks responded to the collision at approximately 10:40 a.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2024 Honda was traveling west on State Route 17 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway onto the northern shoulder and struck a guide wire.
The vehicle then re-entered the roadway, traveled across two lanes of traffic, and subsequently struck the center median guide rail.
The driver and sole occupant was identified as Teresa Petitti, 39, of Port Jervis.
Petitti was extricated from the vehicle by passing motorists.
Troopers performed life-saving measures prior to emergency medical services arriving.
Petitti was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation remains ongoing.
