LYNDONVILLE, VT — A Derby man has been cited for allegedly filing a false police report about a truck crash.
Skye Boutah, 29, of Derby, was cited March 21 on a charge of false reports to law enforcement.
On March 20, the Lyndonville Police Department received a complaint of a rolled over 2001 Ford Ranger off Vermont Route 122 by Exit 24.
The motorist fled the scene prior to the arrival of police and the Lyndonville Fire Department.
The truck was hauled away by Caledonia Wrecker Service.
On March 21, the Lyndonville Police Department received a complaint via 911 from the owner of the truck, reporting that he let somebody he did not know drive his vehicle at a party when he was intoxicated and he woke up the next day and his truck was now gone.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the vehicle owner was actually the operator of the vehicle at the time of the collision and had provided false information.
Boutah was cited into Caledonia Superior Court with an arraignment date of April 27 at 8:30 a.m.
He was also issued a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint for driving on roadways laned for traffic that carries a $220 waiver fine and 2 points.
