Man arrested on home invasion charge in North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT — A New Haven man was arrested after police found him hiding under a mattress following a reported home invasion on the night of March 22, 2026.

North Haven officers were dispatched to a residence for an open-line 911 call around that time.

Dispatchers advised that the caller appeared to be in serious distress during the active call.

Officers made entry into the residence and located the caller, who was in visible distress with minor injuries.

Through their initial investigation, officers learned an adult male had unlawfully entered the home, restrained and physically assaulted the victim, and was believed to still be inside the residence.

The victim and suspect are known to each other.

Officers conducted a search of the home and located David Palmisano, 43, of New Haven, hiding under a mattress.

Palmisano was taken into custody without further incident.

Officers rendered aid to the victim and confirmed Palmisano’s identity, at which time it was also determined he had an active extraditable arrest warrant out of the State of New York.

Palmisano was transported to the North Haven Police Department and charged with Breach of Peace in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, Interfering, Threatening in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful Restraint in the 1st Degree, Home Invasion, and Burglary in the 1st Degree.

He was held on a $250,000 bond and transported to Meriden Superior Court on the morning of March 23, 2026.

The State of New York has been notified and will be pursuing extradition on the outstanding warrant.
