Correction officer arrested on assault charge in Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation announced the arrest of a correction officer on a felony assault charge.

Calvin R. Morges, 43, of Fishkill, was arrested on a Dutchess County Grand Jury indictment for one count of second-degree assault, a class D felony.

The investigation began in April 2024 after the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision’s Office of Special Investigations reported that an incarcerated individual at Green Haven Correctional Facility had been hospitalized with serious injuries.

The injuries allegedly resulted from an assault by a correction officer, later identified as Morges.

The indictment was filed on Jan. 29, 2026.

On March 19, 2026, Morges turned himself in to the New York State Police.

He was processed and released pending further court proceedings.
