FALL RIVER, MA — A 27-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after police executed a search warrant at a residence on the 100 block of Davis Street and recovered two handguns, including one modified into a machine gun, along with numerous ammunition feeding devices.

Anthony Soto, of Fall River, was detained when members of the Fall River Police Department’s C.A.S.T. unit, assisted by the Emergency Services Unit, Metro Boston Gang Task Force, FBI Task Force and ATF Task Force, entered the residence at approximately 6:30 a.m. on March 23.

Detectives located 20 firearm feeding devices, 13 of which were large capacity, a Glock 26 9mm handgun, a Glock 19 9mm handgun equipped with a Glock switch, and ammunition.

A Glock switch, also known as an auto sear, is an aftermarket modification that converts a semi-automatic handgun into a fully automatic weapon by allowing continuous fire while the trigger remains depressed.

The modification is illegal and reclassifies the handgun as a machine gun.

Soto does not possess a firearms license and would not be eligible for one due to previous firearm-related convictions, according to police.

Detectives from the FRPD Crime Scene Unit photographed and collected the evidence.

Soto was charged with 13 counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device, two counts of improper storage of a large capacity firearm, two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm, one count of subsequent offense of possession of ammunition without an FID card, two counts of subsequent offense of firearm without an FID card, and one count of possession of a machine gun.
