Bus, car collide head-on in Arlington

ARLINGTON, VT — A head-on collision between a Green Mountain Express bus and a car sent six people to the hospital early Monday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:42 a.m. on Vermont Route 313 East at the intersection with Warm Brook Road.

Frank C. Carter, 48, of Bennington, was operating a 2025 Ford E-450 Forest River Bus Champion carrying 15 passengers when it collided with a 2024 Subaru Outback operated by Joy B. Douglas, 58, of Eagle Bridge, New York.

Five passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries.

Douglas also sustained minor injuries.

All six injured individuals were transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.

The roadway was shut down to allow emergency medical services to provide medical attention to the injured passengers.

Arlington Rescue Squad, Northshire Rescue Squad, Bennington Rescue Squad and Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad responded to the scene.

Arlington Fire Department, Vermont DMV Police and Vermont State Police worked on securing the scene and conducting an investigation.

The roadway remained closed until both vehicles could be removed.

Weather conditions were cloudy and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

Both operators were wearing seat belts.
