CAPE MAY, NJ — Two Connecticut men have been charged in connection with a motor vehicle theft that occurred in August.
Nazir Rainey, 19, of Bristol, Connecticut, and Nikolas Creed Jordan, 19, also of Bristol, Connecticut, were each charged with receiving stolen property and conspiracy, both third-degree crimes under the New Jersey Criminal Code.
The investigation began when Cape May Police officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a residence in the 1200 block of Missouri Avenue on the morning of Aug. 24, 2025.
The victim reported that he had left his vehicle parked in front of the residence the night before and discovered it missing in the morning.
Cape May Police detectives identified Rainey and Jordan as suspects after an investigation stemming from an incident the previous evening.
Through a review of video surveillance footage, detectives developed the two individuals as suspects in the case.
A thorough investigation, along with the assistance and cooperation of several witnesses, led to the approval of charges against both parties.
Chief Dekon Fashaw Sr. of the Cape May Police Department announced the charges on March 9, 2026, following an investigation lasting several months into a string of car burglaries and the motor vehicle theft.
