Man arrested on child sex abuse charges in Wallkill

WALLKILL, NY — A 34-year-old man was arrested July 2 on charges of sexually abusing a 4-year-old child.

Alejandro Martinez, of Wallkill, was charged with first-degree sexual abuse and forcible touching.

Police responded April 8 to a residence in Wallkill following a report of the abuse.

An investigation by Detective Condon led to Martinez’s identification.

Martinez was arraigned before Judge Martini in the Centralized Arraignment Part and ordered held at the Orange County Jail on $25,000 cash bail, $75,000 secured bond or $150,000 partially secured bond.

The Town of Wallkill Police Department was assisted by Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services, Garnet Health Medical Center, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
