Woman arrested on fraud charges in Wickford

WICKFORD, RI — A Pawtucket woman was arrested on multiple fraud charges after turning herself in to state police.

Rosa Martinez, 34, of Pawtucket, was arrested at 11 a.m. at the Rhode Island State Police Wickford Barracks.

Martinez faces charges of obtaining property by false pretenses/personation over $10,000, fraudulently obtaining public assistance over $500, fraudulent use of food stamps over $500, forgery and counterfeiting, and giving false documents to a public official.

The arrest was the result of a barracks investigation.

Martinez was processed and transported to Third District Court pending arraignment.

In a separate incident, troopers arrested Veasna Neth, 38, of North Providence, at 12:17 a.m. on a Third District Court bench warrant.

The warrant was issued for failure to appear for a pretrial conference on an original charge of driving with a suspended license from the North Providence Police Department.

The arrest occurred during a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in Warwick.

Neth was transported to Wickford Barracks, where he was processed and arraigned by a justice of the peace.

He was released after posting bail.
