3 arrested in drug bust at condemned building in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN, NY — Members of the Jamestown Police Department and Jamestown Fire Department responded to 198 Hopkins Avenue for a reported structure fire on June 25 around 12:55 a.m.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a small cooking grill produced a large amount of smoke at the condemned location.

Outside of the location, Charles F. Haley and Nathan L. Siracuse were detained by patrol.

A search warrant was executed by narcotics investigators from JPD/CCSO and Leslie D. Arnold was located inside and detained.

Detectives continued to search the condemned property and located 107.4 grams of methamphetamine, $2,602 in U.S. currency, three handguns, one rifle and digital scales.

Charles F. Haley and Leslie D. Arnold were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, criminally using drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, and criminal trespass in the 3rd degree.

On June 26 around 7:16 a.m., officers stopped a motorcycle for improper plates and no registration.

The operator Kasey Sweeney was found to have a suspended license with several failures to appear in court.

Sweeney was taken into custody, and a search of his person revealed a small amount of methamphetamine in his pocket.

Sweeney was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 2nd, as well as other vehicle and traffic violations.

On June 26 around 9 p.m., officers responded to a southside business for a reported larceny.

It was determined that Chelline Occhipinti concealed multiple beauty products in her purse and passed all points of sale without paying.

Occhipinti was charged with petit larceny.

On June 27 around 9 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of E. 8th Street when they observed 50-year-old Xiomara Mercado, who was wanted on a nationwide extraditable warrant out of Warren, Pennsylvania.

As officers attempted to take Mercado into custody, Zuleyka Fuentes Cruz stood in front of the officers, blocking their path and obstructing their efforts to effect arrest.

After Mercado was taken into custody, they were charged with fugitive from justice and resisting arrest.

Fuentes Cruz was charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.

On June 27 around 4:30 p.m., officers responded to an address in the center of the city for a reported fight.

It was determined that Nevaeh T. Graves struck another person in the face several times, causing physical injury.

Graves was charged with criminal mischief in the 3rd degree and assault in the 3rd degree.

On June 28 around 8:30 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Foote Avenue and Arnold Street when they observed Shawn D. Kline walking in the area.

Kline had a parole warrant out of the state of Pennsylvania.

Kline was charged with fugitive from justice.

On June 28 around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of E. 2nd and Winsor streets on a report of a person with a weapon.

Investigation determined that Joseph Novak had pointed an imitation pistol at the victim while threatening them.

Novak was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree and menacing in the 2nd degree.

On June 29 around 10:11 p.m., officers responded to an east side address to speak with someone involved in a prior incident.

There was a valid warrant for Ami L. Duvall at the address.

Officers checked the apartment and located Duvall hiding in a wall cutout within the residence.

Duvall was charged with resisting arrest in addition to her warrant.
