Commercial fire reported in Hopewell Township

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ — A fire broke out in a commercial building on American Boulevard on Monday morning.

Hopewell Township Police received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 7:20 a.m. from the Bank of America building at 1550 American Boulevard reporting a fire in the kitchen.

Responding officers and fire personnel observed smoke billowing from the building upon arrival.

Fire personnel under the command of Chief Roger Demareski of the Pennington Fire Department arrived on location and began work on the fire.

Responding agencies assisting the Pennington Fire Department were Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, Hopewell Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Lawrence Township Fire Department, West Trenton Fire Department, Prospect Heights Fire Department and Capital Health EMS.

The building was occupied at the time of the fire, but all staff had safely evacuated.

The building suffered extensive water and smoke damage.

Preliminary investigation of the fire pointed to nothing suspicious.

No injuries were reported.

The source of the fire is under investigation by the Mercer County Fire Marshall and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.
